Through fundraising and grantmaking, the Foundation drives scientific research, innovation, and policy change that will improve care, advance cures, and reform healthcare systems for this and future generations.

Founded in 1997, the Foundation was established as an independent public charity to ensure a continued source of dedicated funding and support for the health and well-being of children. The Foundation is the sole fundraising entity for Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford and the maternal and child health programs of Stanford School of Medicine. Philanthropy supports clinical care, research, innovation, and education to improve the health of children and expectant mothers, locally and worldwide.

OPPORTUNITY HIGHLIGHTS

  • Compensation range is $100,000 - $104,000

  • Hybrid position - in office eight plus days per month, more on occasion

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Operations Project Manager will play a pivotal role in streamlining current processes while also implementing new systems across the Principal Gifts (PG) team. This person is a highly organized, detail-oriented, and strategic team player who can exercise strong judgment, take initiative, and successfully work on concurrent tasks under pressure while maintaining a calm demeanor. They are proactive and innovative in developing systems, routines, and approaches to support the work of the team overall.

The Principal Gifts team works with donors and prospects who have the potential to make philanthropic gifts of $10 million or more. The team partners closely with the Foundation President/CEO’s Office, hospital and School of Medicine leadership, as well as both hospital and Foundation board members.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

The Operations Project Manager is a new position and will report to the Senior Associate Director, Principal Gifts. The Operations Project Manager will also occasionally yield requests from others, including the Associate Vice President (AVP).

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Operations

  • Coordinate with Principal Gifts officers on team-wide projects and serve as a liaison with partner teams.

  • In partnership with the revenue project manager, assist in providing mid-year and year-end team metric updates.

  • Assist with onboarding process for future recruits to the PG team.

  • Help establish and identify new approaches, procedures, and processes to affect continual improvements across the team.

  • Assist with task force management as needed.

  • Assist with event support as needed.

Portfolio Management

  • Assist with annual board member list reviews.

  • Assist with the board impact plan process.

  • Assist in updating board relations on upcoming meetings and gifts related to board members.

  • Assist the AVP in developing systems for team wide portfolio management:

    • Development of a robust donor pipeline for PG portfolios.

    • Assignment of new prospects to gift officers.

    • Alignment of data practices between the PG team and the broader organization. 

    • Portfolio analysis and movement within portfolios.

    • Best practices for prospect research across PG portfolios.

Administrative

  • Serve as back-up to the Project Manager, Senior Development Associate, and Executive Development Administrator as needed.

  • Project management as assigned.

  • Fund tracking and research as needed.

  • Assist Senior Associate Director as needed.

COMPETENCIES

  • Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience. 

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 including Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint and Teams; deep understanding of database systems.

  • Excellent organization and project management skills with outstanding attention to detail.

  • Proven ability to meet shifting and tight deadlines while managing multiple priorities.

  • Capacity to function effectively at a rapid pace on a high-execute team with a high volume of work.

  • Exemplary writing skills.

Highly desired but not required:

  • Development fundraising and/or understanding of philanthropy.

  • Experience working in higher education and/or medicine.

  • Additional software proficiency in: Raiser’s Edge, Monday.com, PowerBI, AI, and Blackbaud.
