Since 1951, the not-for-profit VNA has provided a wide range of home health care, serving Monterey, San Benito, Santa Cruz, and South Santa Clara counties. VNA places an emphasis on individual patient needs and goals, providing care in an ethical, effective, compassionate and fiscally responsible manner.
VNA Community Services brings wellness to the community. Well known as community immunizers; experienced, professional registered nurses provide on-site flu and vaccine services. Nurses provide services to local schools to meet state-mandated screenings, vaccines, and staff education.
VNA provides care, covered primarily by insurance, through the expert skills of our trained and certified clinicians, to assist patients, families, and caregivers in the comfort and familiarity of their own homes.
The home health division offers key specialty programs, including cardiac, connections, diabetic, orthopedic, and palliative care. These individual programs have advanced practice clinicians and program expertise.
VNA Hospice provides care for those facing a life-limiting illness, their families and their caregiver. The care involves a team-oriented approach to provide expert medical care, pain management, and emotional and spiritual support expressly tailored to the patient’s needs and wishes. A key component to our team is VNA Volunteers who give their time to improve the lives of others. Grief and loss support are offered to individuals whose loved ones had been on service as well as to the community individually or in a group setting.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Director of Development (DoD) is responsible for implementing the strategic vision of CCVNA through developing and executing fundraising plans and securing individual, corporate, and foundation support, and public and private grants. The DoD is responsible for all functions of the development department, including formulation and implementation of fundraising goals, optimizing complete and accurate donor records, and assuring timely acknowledgment of gifts and donor recognition.
The DoD will manage the growth and sustainability of new donors, grants, and gifts. This role will collaborate with internal departments to meet regulatory tracking and reporting requirements for funds received. The DoD will collaborate with the CEO and the Board of Directors to build an effective development committee and ensure volunteers are being supported and deployed appropriately.

OPPORTUNITY HIGHLIGHTS
Salary range is $120,000-$125,000

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and implement comprehensive one-year and five-year fundraising plans to meet the organization’s revenue goals.
Identify and cultivate major gift, corporate, and foundation prospects.
Design and deploy a robust planned giving program.
Plan and execute special events that engage donors and raise funds for the organization.
In partnership with the development team: research, cultivate, manage and grow public and privately funded grant opportunities.
Manage and lead a team of fundraising professionals, providing mentorship, training, and support as needed.
Collaborate with the Communications team to develop and execute effective donor communications and marketing materials.
Work closely with the Board of Directors and Executive Director to develop fundraising strategies and goals.
Facilitate exceptional board/staff partnerships and ensure the Board of Directors has the support and assistance needed for the execution of their responsibilities.
Promote an internal culture of philanthropy in partnership with the Board of Directors.
Communicate fundraising priorities to employees/clinicians and train clinicians on introducing donation opportunities to clients.
Monitor and analyze fundraising data to evaluate performance and adjust strategies as needed.
COMPETENCIES
Minimum 7-10 years of experience as a successful fundraising professional
Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business administration, related field or proven relevant experience in a related field
Experience in nonprofit fundraising with a proven track record of success in major gifts, corporate and foundation giving and special events
Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to write compelling donor communications and marketing materials
Strong leadership skills with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, Board members, and volunteers
Must be socially interactive and willing to build meaningful relationships and create networks with community members and organizations
Ability to recruit and motivate volunteers
Possess excellent organizational and project management skills
Experience in setting and working within budgets
Experience in computer and database management
